Nancy Coffelt

Nature, especially animals have always fascinated me. And they take the top spot as subject matter in my art. After many years creating whimsical pieces using oil pastel on black paper, I now work in acrylic gouache and metal leaf. My animal images now lean more toward realism but I still strive for that touch of fun and vivid color in every painting. 

My husband and I have lived in Baker City since 2012. As a native Portlander, it took a few years to lose my rainy-climate “webfeet” but we both love the beauty of eastern Oregon. From the birds we see at our feeder, to the mule deer wandering town, to the foxes, coyotes, and pronghorns who also call this area home, inspiration abounds.

In addition to fine art, I am also a children’s book author and illustrator. My images have been licensed by companies including Starbucks and the Nature Company.
