JoAnn Burgess
I am absolutely passionate about life, art, and the creative process. My love for nature, light, texture, and life-filled space all inspire my work in pastels. It is a natural medium for me. When I work it is a whole-body experience for me. Ultimately my work draws on the human spirit and what it means to be alive. That is what I give to those who own my work.
JoAnn has shared her artistic vision through pastels for 18 years. She is a partner at Hood Avenue Art Gallery in Sisters, where she shows and sells here work, and collaborates in the operation of the gallery.
JoAnn’s pastel work includes landscapes (sometimes plein air) and abstracts. Her love of nature is reflected in her paintings through use of color, texture, and light to create an exciting journey of the senses.
JoAnn has shown her artwork around the Northwest, including Salem Art Festival, Festival of the Arts in Bellevue, Washington, Fall and Summer Festivals in Bend, St. Charles Hospital in Bend, Deschutes Public Library in Sisters and Redmond, and Three Birds Home and Gifts in Seattle. She also teaches “Introduction to Pastel” classes for small groups.
She has studied with several great artists for 20 years, and each of these opportunities has contributed to her talents and passion. JoAnn is a member of the Plein Air Painters of Oregon, Sagebrushers Art Society in Bend, and Sisters Arts Association.
