Janice Tracy

Janice Tracy’s approach to art is to capture a place, a moment, or a notion in the hope that the viewer can experience it with her. Her media and methods are eclectic and include oils, cut paper collage, and water media on non-traditional surfaces.

Janice began studying art in the 90s as a “DIY” way to decorate her walls. With the help of art classes and many days painting alongside mentor Avalon Parsons in her studio outside of Bend, Oregon, she developed an impressionist/expressionist style that follows her in whatever medium she chooses.

She has lived on both sides of the Cascades and it shows in her work, which often reflects Central Oregon, forest and coastal scenes. “For art to surpass a photograph of a thing of beauty, it must reach beyond the image to reproduce the sensation of the moment. This is my goal in every piece of art.”
