Gloria Chenoweth
Gloria Chenoweth is a native Oregonian artist and resident of Sisters. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Graphic Design at Portland State University and a Certificate in Museum Studies from the University of Washington. She was a partner with The Design Council in Portland until seeking an expansion of her practice in Seattle to include her love of fine art and illustration.
She taught art and art history to elementary children, and attributes an elevated level of inspiration to her students, citing that “they taught me more than I taught them.” She wrote and performed a Living History project for the Museum of Flight in Seattle and worked in the Marketing and Volunteer Departments for the Nordic Museum in Seattle.

Her gallery and private commissions work is a confluence of mid-century themes and an abstract interpretation of the natural world. She uses graphic design techniques in her work, and feels it strengthens the relationship between artist and audience.
Gloria uses a variety of mediums in various combinations; pastel for a saturated and vibrant effect, acrylics for conciseness, and hand-painted collage to add dimension. She strives to honor her place in history by creating art that references the past, reinterprets the present and provides commentary on the future.
