Beth O’Mahony

Beth O’Mahony is a ceramic artist and mixed-media sculptor who works with a wide variety of materials. Her artwork has been displayed in galleries, museums and other venues in the Pacific Northwest for more than 20 years. Her work is popular with private collectors, and can be found in public collections as far away as Chonan, South Korea.

Beth began creating art when she was a very young girl. She learned to sew by hand before she could read or write and she has always been drawn to creating three dimensional forms. Animal figures, organic shapes from the natural world, and the human form have always been featured in her art.

Through studies at the Oregon College of Art and Craft, Portland Community College and Portland State University, Beth learned how to work with many materials including fibers, clay, metal and glass. She enjoys combining materials and often uses found objects in her work.

Beth was a founding member of Sequoia Gallery and Studios in Hillsboro, OR. She maintained a public studio there for more than 10 years where she created, showed and sold her art. She also taught ceramics and fiber art classes and worked with students in local schools on various art projects.

Beth’s current work is focused on large, handbuilt ceramic sculpture. She has been working with Anne Hunter at Tumalo Art Farm, where Beth is creating large sectional garden sculptures. Her new art features figurative shapes and classic forms which are influenced by the natural and spiritual world.
